At the Valley Equine Vet Centre, we have three veterinarians available for consultations. All our vets have their own special areas of interest and expertise, meaning your horse will always be able to receive the very best care and attention. Our vets are all experienced, dedicating and developing their careers to solely looking after horses and ponies. They are committed to continually enhancing their knowledge through professional development, enabling us to provide the highest standard of care to your horse. We also have a strong understanding and extensive involvement within the equine industry.
Dr Paula Bell-Cross is well renowned for her commitment and skill in the field of Equine Reproduction. In breeding season Paula will be busy in her dedicated reproduction lab here at VEVC performing stallion collections, semen freezing, embryo transfer and artificial inseminations.

Our Nursing Team
The backbone of any clinic is the amazing and hard-working nursing staff and we are proud at VEVC to have a fantastic team. Our nurses are involved with every aspect of caring for your horse and provide essential support to our vets.
They do invaluable work behind the scenes and provide a high level of dedication, skill, and compassion to both our patients and clients.
Our nurses are all highly skilled and all of them have attained their Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, which is the highest qualification available to veterinary nurses in Australia. Our nurses also continue working towards additional related qualifications and attend seminars, conferences, and courses to further improve their skill set.
Depending on the day, you might find our nurses admitting and discharging patients from the hospital, running in-house blood samples, or preparing them for external testing. Administering, labeling, recording, and dispensing medications, performing reception duties, monitoring hospital patients as well as providing a high-level service to each consulting vet. They are an essential part of VEVC and we could not provide our high-level patient care and customer service without them.
They are also all keen equestrians and riders, so they understand the importance of getting your horse fit and well again as soon as possible. Next time you see them at a competition – don’t forget to say hi!

“The team of vets and nurses are fantastic, they understood that I was anxious about my horse after her bee string in the throat. They were in constant contact with me and I visited her all the time. Thank you so much for saving her life.”
